This tip is so simple there should be no need to share it: if a guy is mean to you once, warn him; if he's mean to you again, drop him. A lot of us can take a joke too far every once in awhile, have a momentary lapse of sensitivity, or say the wrong thing now and then when we're stressed out. But if this kind of meanness is a pattern, then it's not going to change. Period. Once a guy reveals a mean streak, it doesn't matter how sweet and self-effacing you are: he's not going to wake up one day and start treating you better. So if he's mean to you once, shame on him, and let him know it. But if he's mean to you again, and you keep him around, then don't say you weren't warned.
